12/30/2009 - The Replacements: All Over But the Shouting: An Oral History
"The Replacements, ‘the little working-class band that could - but didn't,’ as Walsh calls them, were beloved in the 1980s, especially in their native Minneapolis. Writing about them in The Times, David Carr said the band "achieved mythic status for their off-the-hook live shows and indelible anthems about going fast to nowhere in particular." Lovingly drawing on interviews with friends and fans, Walsh traces the band's arc from underground success to major-label contract to slow dissolution."
The New York Times Book Review , December 27, 2009

11/12/2009 - The Official Horse Breeds Standards Guide: The Complete Guide to the Standards of All North American Equine Breed As sociations
"Lynghaug (Horses of Distinction) deftly profiles 118 breeds, including ponies, small horses, pleasure breeds, draft varieties, and thoroughbreds. The breeds fall into six major categories, including wild varieties. Entries run approximately five pages and include historical details, breed standards, registration requirements, show criteria, and full-color photographs. The historical detail included is extensive and fascinating. Two appendixes offer detailed illustrations of various correct and imperfect body formations and an A-to-Z registry of organizations offering more breed-specific information."—Library Journal, November 15, 2009

9/29/2009 - Everything I Know About Life I Learned From My Horse
"To read this book is to join Petersen around a campfire, clapping knees together at the adventuresome blessing that is the horse life...At once a humorous memoir and legitimate guidebook, this book is an up-close-and-personal introduction to the cowgirl's days and the charm of the horses that fill them."—ForeWord, September/October 2009

9/29/2009 - Neil Diamond Is Forever: The Illustrated Story of the Man and His Music
Author Jon Bream was interviewed on NYPost.com in an article titled "Neil Diamond still a Brooklyn cowboy".

9/29/2009 - The Velvet Underground: An Illustrated History of a Walk on the Wild Side
"Assisted by a number of contributors, DeRogatis, the pop-music critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, has put together the latest book to appear on the gritty New York band the Velvet Underground. Compared with Richie Unterberger’s recent White Light/White Heat: The Velvet Underground Day by Day, DeRogatis’s book contains relatively little text. What it principally offers is an overview of the band’s career, brief critical analyses of their albums, and a superb collection of visually stunning, full-color reproductions of concert posters, ticket stubs, press clippings, and so on. There are also dozens of black-and-white photos of the band in the studio, onstage, and hanging out at Andy Warhol’s Factory. Verdict: Readers who want detail and in-depth analysis of the Velvet Underground and their importance in American popular music will want to steer toward White Light/White Heat; however, DeRogatis’s coffee-table book, with its archival images and other memorabilia, is highly recommended for fans of the Velvet Underground."—Library Journal, October 1, 2009

9/29/2009 - Neil Diamond Is Forever: The Illustrated Story of the Man and His Music
"As each page turns you find a new image of a career that has spanned decades - and deservedly so. It’s a book that has to be read twice because you don’t want words to distract from the beautifully reproduced images and the music that can’t leave your mind. 'I’ll read it after I check out more of the pictures,' you’ll tell yourself. Fat chance…
"Jon Bream has done a great job of building this 8.5 x 11 inch hardbound collection and it is a testament to just how well the author knows his subject. Within its 160 pages you’ll find 225 huge color and 81 black & white photos leaving you with the impression that there can’t possibly be a single photo of Neil that isn’t contained in this volume. The story of Neil’s life and career is inspiring and noteworthy because of its many triumphs and its longevity…I highly recommend this book and it holds an honored place on my shelf."—blogcritics.org, "Neil Diamond is Forever... And With Good Reason"

9/29/2009 - Neil Diamond Is Forever: The Illustrated Story of the Man and His Music

9/1/2009 - Backroads of North Carolina: Your Guide to Great Day Trips & Weekend Getaways
"Adams writes with the confidence and familiarity of someone who has made these journey numerous times, which give his suggestions even more credence. But it’s his photography—brilliantly colorful and perfectly composed, with an eye for unusual details— that makes these destinations so desirable, whether you choose to spend an entire weekend exploring or to just go for the day."—Our State, September 1, 2009

7/23/2009 - Everything I Know About Life I Learned From My Horse
"The cowgirl will feel at home in these pages; she is clearly the intended audience as the reader is addressed as a 'horse aficionado.' However, because of the second-person point of view, perhaps readers of all walks of life—even those who have only encountered a horse’s rear in passing on the interstate—can imagine themselves in the saddle. For the benefit of those less acquainted with equines, a footnote indicates that riding drag 'has nothing to do with kinky dress behavior.' The wry voice of the narrator at once advises on the arts of the Out West—how to answer nature’s call in a way that goes down in the memory books or how to fall off a horse—and assumes that the reader can recall these experiences too. To read this book is to join Petersen around a campfire, slapping knees together at the adventuresome blessing that is the horse life."—Janelle Adsit, ForeWord Magazine, August 2009

6/1/2009 - Goddess of the Last Minute: Laughter and Lessons from an Uncommon Quilter
"Robbi may be a bit cheeky at times, but she is right-on with the topics she chooses to write about and, as we’ve learned from reading Robbi’s Goddess columns in Quilting Arts Magazine, she never fails to touch a nerve or make us laugh. In her new book, Robbi reflects on creativity, family, the fun and folly of being a quilter, and more. And as always, she’ll make you laugh." —Quilting Arts Magazine, July 2009.

6/1/2009 - Goddess of the Last Minute: Laughter and Lessons from an Uncommon Quilter
"Of course, this is not meant to be serious literature. It is meant to give the readers a break, maybe a sense of belonging to a group of people like you, people who have finally figured out that being perfect isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and really isn’t much fun. This book is a wonderful present for a friend, a relative or even for someone who’s hard to buy for but needs to lighten up." —quiltchannel.com
